Natural Skin Care Advice

When you go shopping for Skin Care products you are usually faced with quite an array of items from moisturizers to cleansers to exfoliating agents and many more. But for a change, why don’t you look at using natural Skin Care instead?

You could quite easily make your own products from the items found in your pantry and they will be just as good as any commercial product you could buy.  You will also have the satisfaction and pride of making your own skincare products.

Furthermore, using natural Skin Care techniques means that you will not be applying artificial chemicals to your face, such as fragrances, dyes, preservatives, and suchlike that can be found in so many products.  Give your skin a break from commercial preparations and go natural and see if it makes a difference.

Please remember that much of your skin’s health and appearance comes from your overall wellbeing.  To help things along you need to be eating a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and fish. Drinking plenty of water daily is a big part of natural Skin Care.  The recommended amount is 8 glasses each day. Your body uses up hydration and moisture for your system before giving your skin what is left over so you need to keep your intake topped up for maximum benefit to your skin.

Exercise is also extremely important when it comes to natural Skin Care.  This is because the body uses oxygen as a healing agent for the skin.  This helps the skin to repair damaged cells and remove dead cells and other elements that make the skin look unhealthy and dull. When you’re physically active you’re increasing both the amount of blood and the amount of oxygen your skin gets, which often does more good for your skin than any natural Skin Care products you can try.

Long before Nivea, Olay, L’Oreal, Revitalift, Avon and the like came into our lives, women have been making their own natural Skin Care products for centuries.  A simple mask of honey and oatmeal which is made into a paste is a standard favourite; the honey moisturizes while the oatmeal cleans and exfoliates.  Eggs, avocado, cucumber, plain yogurt, and vitamin E oil are also good ingredients for making your own natural Skin Care products and masks.

Depending on your particular skin type, there are many books and websites which will have simple recipes and ideas for natural Skin Care products that you can experiment with.  Always try a small amount first just in case you are allergic or sensitive to any of the ingredients before trying it all over your face.

Ingredients you may be able to make use of include:-
Almond oil
Honey
Avocado
Coconut
Cucumber
Eggs
Bananas
Lemon
Oatmeal
Papaya
Strawberry
Tomatoes
Yoghurt

This is just a short list of the many ingredients you may use and there are many more around to experiment with.

Before you start you need to determine what your skin type is.  If you have oily skin you will be best suited to ingredients such as citrus fruits and salt or sugar scrubs while sensitive skin types will need more soothing items such as olive oil, dairy products and honey. Normal skin types might use a sea salt scrub followed by a lemon juice toner and maybe an olive oil based moisturizer.

Many of the hundreds of recipes you will find can be made in advance as they will keep in the fridge for several days in a screw top jar.

Above all else, have fun and experiment until you find the best ingredients that will work for your skin type.  The more you delve into the recipes the greater the success you will have mixing up your own natural Skin Care concoctions!
